From Br Steve Hogan fsc
On Sunday the 8th March, it is International Women鈥檚 Day.
The De La Salle Brother鈥檚 network of Lasallian institutions which 成人VR视频 is part of, provides education for over one million students daily, more than half who are girls, and most are staffed by women.
The Superior General of the De La Salle Brother鈥檚 writes:
鈥淲e would like to specifically note the contribution of Lasallian women who now compose over half of the total personnel involved in the Lasallian Mission. Their presence, undoubtedly, will help construct a community-centred society; help to re-examine ways of thinking; help to situate the entire Lasallian world a bit differently; and help to organize social, political, economic and religious life in a way that can be more intuitive and relational鈥.
Mrs Leopardi responded to this question:
How do you see the contribution of women shaping the future of the Lasallian mission?
"Women have shaped the Lasallian mission from its beginnings, starting with figures like Nicolle Mo毛t de Brouillet (De La Salle鈥檚 grandmother), Louise de Marillac, Sister Louise Hours and Catherine Leleu whose faith and compassion influenced De La Salle鈥檚 values. These women, whose determination to educate poor girls, drew St John Baptist de La Salle into the work that became the Lasallian mission. Today, women make up 60 - 70% of Lasallian educators worldwide and hold many of the key leadership roles in Australian Lasallian schools, including mission, curriculum, wellbeing, pastoral care, and service learning."
"Women in roles like mine; in mission, curriculum leaders, pastoral coordinators, business managers, and wellbeing leaders, are now the primary stewards of the charism, shaping school culture, forming hearts, and ensuring that Lasallian values are lived daily through compassion, inclusion, justice, and relational pedagogy. As the mission evolves from a Brothers鈥恖ed movement to a shared, co鈥恟esponsible one, women are not only sustaining the Lasallian tradition but expanding it, modelling courageous, faith鈥恌illed leadership and ensuring that the spirit of De La Salle continues to respond boldly to the needs of the modern world."
Women play an enormous part in shaping the Lasallian mission and its service to young people for the future.
It has been said a successful school is measured by the quality of its graduates and 成人VR视频 is an extraordinary school in this regard. Not only does it have a long tradition of academic, sporting and cultural prowess but it is well known for its alumni, including 50 years of women alumni, who go on to serve and lead in the local community and in the halls of academia and government, on the front lines of our police and defence forces, in hospitals, schools, and care centres.
成人VR视频 provides a competitive edge for girls because the boys by nature are competitive in the classroom which many of the girls find to be something they are looking for. The girl鈥檚 presence for many boys means they also lift their game in terms of their intuitive and relational skills creating a rich learning environment for all.
Schools are about inspiring students to aspire to greatness and we at 成人VR视频 make that happen for the young women here, your daughters, on their journey to become influential young women 鈥 leaders in any field. Pressing for progress all the time; advocates for what is just and right has always been our tradition.
Winston Churchill says: 鈥淪uccess is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Never, never, never, give up鈥.
成人VR视频 students never cease to amaze me. This week Mutien House held their Mutien House liturgy for the Feast of St Mutien Marie. St Mutien was born in French speaking Belgium in 1841 and died in 1917. He taught for 58 years in Mallone, Namur, Belgium. Br Mutien found teaching difficult at first with classes often out of control. The Brothers were going to ask him to leave, but in time he became very successful and is now known for his excellence as a teacher and his reputation for patience and piety. Winston Churchill said never, never, never, ever give up. St Mutien is an example of this and the spirit of Mutien House.
This week the Newsletter once again is full of news of the busy and exciting life 成人VR视频 offers her students. I would however like to highlight some events coming up in the next fortnight which you may be able to support. Research shows that families that stay connected in some way to their school correlates with higher academic outcomes.
Saturday 10th March is the finals of the ISA Basketball at Penrith Stadium. 成人VR视频 has 20 teams in the ISA Finals. Friday 13th March is the 鈥楪reatest Hits Night鈥 with the Battle of the Bands Final showcasing the Performing Arts. The ISA Swimming Carnival is on Tuesday 17th March. The Parent Tutor meetings are on Friday 20th March and the 2026 鈥榃elcome Event鈥 is on Saturday night, 21st March. The theme spans the 90 years with music and trivia.
Year 12 Half Yearly exams start in two weeks鈥 time and they need our support. In addition to what the College and teachers are doing, homes and families are encouraged to go into HSC mode. Now is the time also for Year 12 to put their life on hold, put their head down, and prepare for this challenge. As JFK says in his Rice Moon speech at Rice University on the 12th September 1962: 鈥淲e do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.鈥 The journey begins by setting goals for the half yearly鈥檚, reviewing and then recalibrating for the Trials. Taking small steps and never, never, never, ever give up.
